Blog Post 4/23

I am working on the third and final installment of the Thoroughly Educated Series, Davis. Here’s the blurb:

The third stand alone book in the Thoroughly Educated Series is provocative, uncensored, and downright mischievous.

He’s tried to win her affection for years, but he’s done with begging for her love.

Davis Healy is known around town as the poor little rich kid; spoiled and misunderstood. He doesn’t know how to shrug off the reputation that he’s stuck-up and shallow.

Luna Moss is his one true love, having fallen head over heels in their first year of college. Now that they’re navigating the real world, Davis realizes that he might lose Luna to her coworker if he doesn’t act fast.

His suggestion of friends with benefits starts as a joke, but soon, neither one of them is laughing.

She’s passionate about her teaching position, but he’s found drudgery in his parents’ company. His desire for her now exposed in a whole new way, Davis hopes he can convince Luna that he can give her what no one else can. If it happens to be in his office late at night, who will ever find out?

Before that goes live, Cobblestone Press will publish In for a Penny. Within a few days of each other, actually (oops).

Penny must solve the mystery of the arsonist before he burns the city to the ground.

Penny is a private investigator who trusts nobody. Her friends are few and her male-dominated profession leaves her alienated. When she stumbles upon a building about to collapse she rushes to save people from danger.

Hawk is a firefighter whose previous liaisons have taught him to keep his past and net-worth a secret. He wants something lasting with Penny, but both of them are hesitant to give love a chance.

Will their potential relationship survive the fire, or will Penny and Hawk burn?

Those are both publishing in June. I need to decide what to write next! Here are a few summaries/ideas. I would love your input.

A. Choices (romance/drama/friendship)

Fiona is a successful and popular wedding planner that dreams of having her own perfect wedding one day. A blind date just may be the answer she’s looking for. Is this the chance for Fiona’s dreams to come true?

Josh is a career-minded individual that has never had time for relationships. When he meets Fiona through their mutual friend, he thinks he’s finally found the perfect partner.

After a short engagement, the couple suddenly finds themselves in the middle of stressful wedding preparations. As with all major life choices, Josh and Fiona begin bickering over every small detail. The tension between them becomes escalated when Fiona enlists the help of her life-long best friend Lincoln.

Lincoln senses Josh’s reluctance to accept the relationship between himself and Fiona. He can’t help but feel like he’s losing his best friend, so he’s eager to accept Fiona’s offer to help with the wedding planning in order to spend more time with her.

With each text and phone call, jealousy turns to anger, arguments paint an undesirable picture, and doubts become prevalent. Will the happy couple be able to overcome their differences, or will Fiona have to give up her lifelong friendship? Maybe it’s time to look at all the options.B. You Don’t Own Me (romance/drama/crime)

Savannah truly cared for Dominic.  She gave everything she could to her relationship until he became possessive and physically and emotionally abusive. When Dominic threatens her and her fear reaches an all-time high, she calls 911 for help.

Easton Raines is a Police Officer with the 3rd precinct. He is dedicated and all about his job. In his 10 years on the force, he has seen it all but has still managed to maintain his compassion for the victims.

Officer Raines is dispatched to a Domestic Abuse call where he encounters the frightened Savannah and the incensed Dominic. Will he be able to remain stoic in performing his duties to keep Savannah safe, yet ignore his attraction to her? And what of the threat Dominic poses, is there danger ahead?

C. My other option is to write within the universe of Jack and Crush, my first novel. The idea is to take minor characters and give them their own happily-ever-after or to create someone new to walk into Carter’s Bar and find their soulmate the way Jack did. The titles would fall along the lines of Jim and __, Johnnie and __, José and ___, etc.

Do you have your own unique idea? Let me hear it in the comments!
